This poem was written for the Flower Communion ceremony at the Unitarian Fellowship of South Florida. The Flower Communion is a beautiful nondenominational ceremony that shows that singly we are pretty, but together we make up a beautiful bouquet that is unique. Opening, Blossoming
Reaching towards the sun
Symbols of humanity
Similar, yet different
Each unique
But each equally beautiful
Everyone is a flower
Together we are a beautiful bouquet
Whirling
Twirling
Dervishes in thought
opening up
aspiring ever higher
soaring
flying
reaching fana
annihilation of self
becoming one with god
seeking
reaching
moving back inward
knowing the power of god
yet feeling the human experience

insight
wisdom
wholeness
completeness
seeing sacred in all we do

Some say one day my prince will come
Others say one day my life will get better
I say stop living for one day
Because that one day is now
Be here in the now
Be here in the today
Life flies by in the blink of an eye

The future is distant

As the Wheel of the Year starts again

right from our mouths
they pour from our hearts

changing, molding
they form the world around us
biting, hurtful, painful
some just tear us down to nothing
loving, revering, inspiring
others lift us up to fly in the heavens
